Colin Waeghe works with various themes and concepts. Nonetheless, architecture plays a remarkable role in his creations. This artist uses his utensils to make statements about society. So he does in the series The Great Escape. Famous international museums and buildings are covered by escape cords / ropes. De sheets that have been knotted together make the buildings vulnerable, vulnerable for escape but equally so for entry. Waeghe goes even further by extending the escape ropes beyond the images. It seems that even from the canvas escape is possible. By combining small paintbrush strokes and a large canvas, this artist often creates a vibrating effect. This mirrors the unrest and movement which characterize reality. The world exists of small vibrating molecules relating to one another. Waeghe shows us that nothing is more constant than change.
